Me In 8 Items

A guitar, a yo-yo, a soccer ball, an XBox, a computer an iPod, a bag and a Malaysian flag. What do these objects represent in me?
The guitar and the iPod shows that I like music and that I listen to it a lot. I also play some guitar at an intermediate level. The guitar has some value to me because I had to work hard to learn enough guitar to earn it. I took up guitar because I was thinking of taking up an instrument and guitar took my eye first. I started with a cheap acoustic guitar and started taking some lessons at school. At first I had troubles playing even just one note, but as I got better I could play songs. I was ecstatic when I got my electric guitar, which is the one you see in the picture. My favorite genre of music is Rock and I listen to it and play it the most.

The XBox, the soccer ball and the yo-yo shows what I like to do in my spare time.
I’ll play the XBox when I get bored and if there’s nothing else to do, or if there’s some free time.

I’ll usually play soccer when I have a ball. I first started playing soccer around when I was 5 or 6 when I went to Houston because in my school soccer was a big thing. I used to be terrible at soccer, but now I’ve gotten better since I’ve played it a lot.

I chose the yo-yo as one of the items because I think that it’s fun to do. I got my first yo-yo before I could remember however I didn’t know how to use it properly until a few years ago on a road-trip. On the road-trip I visited a museum with a beginner’s yo-yo in the gift shop and I bought it. I started getting good at the basic stuff, but this yo-yo couldn’t do tricks. So along the road-trip I got a better yo-yo and started doing tricks. Once I returned from the trip I got an even better one which is the one you see in the picture.

The bag represents the learning side of me and school. I like to learn new, interesting things, especially in things that are one of my hobbies.

The computer shows that I use computers and technology a lot; for work and for spare time.

I chose the Malaysian flag as one of the things that represents me because I was born in Malaysia and have lived here for 6 years. It’s where my cousins, aunts and uncles so it’s where most of my family lives.

That’s me in 8 items.

Why I chose the quote

"A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us." - John Steinbeck
I chose the quote that I did because it sounded very interesting to me. I think that part of what makes a good quote is either simplicity or the mystery behind understanding it fully. I think this is a good quote because it makes me think about what it really means.

I chose the picture above of John Steinbeck because it is the author of the quote I chose.

'Dancing Terribly'

I thought that the video was quite entertaining, it put a smile on my face, the way he danced and how he connected with people he hardly knew with his dancing. I like how Matt Harding is spreading happiness with his dancing.

I think that one message in the video is about joy. When other people join him in dancing, it suggests to me that cheerfulness is contagious. He looks like he is dancing continuously and I think that symbolizes to me that his happiness is continuous throughout the video. He also looks joyful anywhere he is in the video, whether in the rain, or in the middle of a beach with crabs swarming around him.

I chose this dancing picture because it really reminded me of the video.

Compliments to Compliment Guy

After watching the video, I think that what the Compliment Guys are doing is very positive to the people at Purdue University. I think that some people at Purdue University would feel happy to get a compliment from somebody they didn't know well. Others might find it a little awkward to receive a compliment from a stranger.

This video has inspired me a bit to start giving more compliments to people. Now all that needs to be done by the Compliment Guys is to take the complimenting a little bit further, maybe to a different place, so that more people can get compliments. From there they might inspire other people to do the same and just give compliments to random people walking by. Maybe then they can accomplish their mission to cheer up America. Keep on complimenting.

I chose this picture because it reminds me of the compliment guys. They give out compliments to people they don't know.
